Binky the Sensory Bus: Now Offering After-School Outreach Support in Peterhead and Fraserburgh!

We are thrilled to announce an exciting new service expansion for Binky the Sensory Bus - our beloved mobile sensory support unit! Due to popular demand and an overwhelming number of requests from the community in the areas of Peterhead and Fraserburgh, we are now offering after-school outreach support in Peterhead and Fraserburgh throughout the school term, starting in October 2024.

Binky the Sensory Bus has been a cornerstone of our efforts to provide tailored support for neurodiverse children, offering a safe, sensory-friendly environment where children can thrive. With the introduction of this new after-school outreach service, we are taking another step forward in our mission to meet the needs of families in the Peterhead and Fraserburgh areas.

📅 Where and When You Can Find Us:

- Peterhead: Every Wednesday from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

- **Fraserburgh: Every Thursday from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

This service is designed to fit into busy family schedules, providing flexibility and the assurance that your child is receiving expert support tailored to their needs.

⏰ What You Need to Know:

- Session Duration: We offer sessions ranging from a minimum of 2 hours up to 4.5 hours.

- Support Team: Our Neurodiversity Support Workers will be on hand to provide personalised care and support on Binky the Sensory Bus, as well as at our partner facilities in both Peterhead and Fraserburgh.

- Parental Guidance: Parents or carers are not required to stay during the sessions, allowing you the freedom to attend to other responsibilities with peace of mind.

💰 Funding and Costs:

We understand the financial pressures families may face, which is why we offer multiple funding options:

- Self-Funding: Pay directly for the support sessions.

- Self-Directed Support (SDS): Eligible families can use SDS funding to cover the costs (SDS rates apply).

While we strive to keep our services as accessible as possible, we do need to charge to cover operational costs and ensure our team is fairly compensated for their outstanding work.

📩 How to Refer Your Child:

Given the high demand for this service, we encourage you to refer your child as soon as possible to secure a spot. Referrals will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and we anticipate spots filling up quickly.

To refer your child, simply send an email to referrals@a-nd.org.uk with your child’s details, age, and preferred support hours. Our team will then reach out to discuss your referral and confirm your booking.

In the event of high demand, we may consider adding an extra day in Fraserburgh, so be sure to stay tuned for any updates.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Partners

This initiative would not be possible without the generous support of our incredible partners: Stagecoach, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and Fraserburgh Leisure Centre. Their contributions have been instrumental in bringing this much-needed service to our community.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to secure a spot on Binky the Sensory Bus. Act fast and ensure your child benefits from this unique and valuable service!
