A-ND proudly appoint Kirstie Wallace to new role of Regional Manager for Highland & Moray

Kirstie Wallace is an experienced values based social worker with a wide & varied career in the statutory & third sector. She has worked with people throughout the lifespan, as a manager, frontline practitioner, lecturer & practice educator. She is an advocate of lifelong learning & supporting individuals, families & communities to reach their potential. Kirstie received a late diagnosis of ADHD & Dyslexia aged 50, when she returned to study for a MSc in Psychological Studies with Applied Developmental Psychology.

Kirstie said "I am absolutely delighted to be joining A-ND as Regional Manager for Highlands and Moray. I have a background in education and social care and come to A-ND with professional experience and personal insight of what it means to think differently and how this feels in the world for individuals, families and communities.

In this leadership and development role I will work to ensure that culture, policy, procedures and practice are all underpinned by A-ND core values, where we are thought leaders, human rights led, innovators, value relationships, influencers and passionate. This is what others can expect from me and this is my expectation of others.

Joining A-ND is no accident; I have been following the transformation of the charity over the last few years and recognise organisational branch changes have come from dedicated, committed and passionate people who live the values and show up fully to be the change they want to see in the world. A-ND is more than a job to me. This is where I have found my place.

I look forward to working collaboratively across localities with autistic and neurodivergent people, their families and local communities; to listen, co-design and create support at the right time and in the right place so those who live in the Highlands and Moray and think differently will experience a world of happiness and fulfilment. I am brimming with energy, excitement and enthusiasm for what will be a rewarding and demanding role".

Billy Alexander, CEO commented "I am delighted and proud to announce that Kirstie Wallace has joined A-ND as our first Highland and Moray Regional Manager.

Kirstie brings with her a wealth of experience as a values-based social worker with a distinguished career in both the statutory and third sectors. Her extensive background includes roles as a manager, frontline practitioner, lecturer, and practice educator, making her a versatile and knowledgeable addition to our senior team.

Kirstie is a strong advocate for lifelong learning and has dedicated her career to supporting individuals, families, and communities in achieving their full potential. Her personal journey, marked by a late diagnosis of ADHD and Dyslexia at age 50 while pursuing her MSc in Psychological Studies with Applied Developmental Psychology, underscores her resilience and commitment to continuous growth and development.

The creation of this new role is pivotal for A-ND as we continue to expand and enhance our vital services across local authorities. Kirstie will be instrumental in launching our new Playscheme in Dingwall at the end of the year, a key initiative that will provide essential support and opportunities for children and families in the Highlands area.

We are now fortunate to have a robust senior leadership team with Kirstie joining Shona Howie, our esteemed Regional Manager for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Shona has led our organisation to significant operational success over the past two years, and with both Kirstie and Shona’s combined skills, knowledge, and experience, along with their teams, I am confident in our ability to achieve even greater heights.

I could not be prouder to have such a dynamic and dedicated team driving our mission forward. Together, we will continue to ensure fulfilled and happy lives for those who think differently and their networks.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Kirstie to A-ND."
